Understanding functional testing: from collection to insight

Functional labs focus on uncovering hidden, connected imbalances in the body rather than just evaluating symptoms or diagnosing illness. They aim to identify root causes and reveal opportunities for healing.


Traditional lab tests have very broad “normal” ranges because they’re designed to detect serious illness in sick patients. This means you can have “normal” results on traditional labs but still feel unwell. When reviewing traditional lab results, we look at the narrower functional ranges—the values associated with optimal health and how a person feels at their best.


Lab kits are shipped directly to your home for your convenience. Depending on the test, you may need to collect samples such as stool, urine, or saliva—all done easily and privately at home. Once collected, you send your samples back to the lab using the prepaid envelope provided. If a blood test is required, you will receive instructions to schedule a blood draw at a lab location near you.



We use a functional nutrition approach to eating that recognizes there’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to food. Just because something is considered “healthy” doesn’t mean it’s right for your body. We use functional lab testing, including metabolic typing, food sensitivity analysis, and gut health assessments, to identify what truly nourishes you and what may currently be working against you. The result is a customized nutrition plan tailored to your unique biology, designed to support healing, balance, and long-term vitality.


Wellness coaching is an opt-in, self-care model — not a quick fix. The goal is to assess, educate, and equip each client with the tools, guidance, and motivation needed to succeed. But real progress depends on commitment and consistency. Small, daily actions add up to meaningful, lasting change.


Because every client is in control of their own choices and follow-through, results cannot be guaranteed. Success ultimately comes from the client’s willingness to stay engaged and take responsibility for their health journey.
